About PHAT Mermaids

Hey there, I’m Anacani, the heart and soul behind PHAT Mermaids. My mission is all about empowering women to conquer their fears and embrace self-acceptance through the amazing world of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and Yoga. I’m passionate about helping women improve low self-esteem, boost self-confidence, and smash body image shaming with my unique blend of classes and courses.

Stand Up Paddle Board 101

Includes an Equipment overview, Water Safety Brief, Beginner Stroke Techniques, and Basic Turns.

SUP Combo Lesson is a special class that offers the best of both SUP and SUP Yoga.
We begin with a leisurely paddle to introduce you to the sport of SUP. After 40 minutes of paddling, we go straight into our Gentle Mermaid Flow SUP Yoga Lesson.

Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga

Change your power vinyasa into a nautical flow. Besides just changing your scenery, the water adds a new dimension to the traditional yoga routine. The combination of Yoga and Stand Up Paddle Boarding brings together mind, body, and spirit with nature. The gentle rocking of the waves and oceanic sounds brings a deeper relaxation to your SUP Savasana. SUP Yoga is a beginner-friendly, total body workout that everyone loves from children and women to men. Come and see what the hype is all about!

Stand Up Paddle Board Fitness

Surfers Sculpt is a twist on your traditional HIIT Training. The class is designed to
build a stronger core, improve your cardio, and increase endurance
by using a combined land and water approach. It starts with a Land Warm-Up followed by Sprints and circuits on the water. The class is ended with a cool-down Restorative SUP Yoga mini session.

Stand Up Paddle Board Instructor Training

You will learn to confidently teach Paddle into Fitness® signature 1.5-hour paddleboard classes: Beginner Lesson (how to teach a beginner sup lesson, technique, and water safety), Gentle Wave (beginner SUP Yoga class with restorative poses and guided savasana meditation) and Nautical Flow (intermediate vinyasa flow class with arm balances and inversions).You will also learn to confidently teach a 1.5 Hour Surfer Sculpt (Beach & water based fitness followed by SUP interval training & a SUP Yoga cooldown) as well as Advanced SUP (Race starts, turns, and finishes as well as creating a SUP Interval training program for private clients)

Do I need any prior experience to join your SUP classes?

No prior experience is necessary to join my SUP classes! My classes are designed to accommodate all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced paddlers. I offer beginner-friendly sessions that focus on the basics of SUP, such as balance and stroke techniques. For those looking for more of a challenge, I have advanced classes and fitness-focused sessions. Our supportive community and I ensure you feel comfortable and confident every step of the way.

What should I wear to a SUP lesson?

For a Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) lesson, comfort and safety are key.

Here are some recommendations on what to wear:

👙 Swimwear: A swimsuit or board shorts are ideal as you’ll likely get wet. Choose something that you’re comfortable moving in.

🩱Quick-Drying Clothing: Consider wearing a rash guard or a quick-drying athletic shirt to protect against sun exposure and chafing.

🧢 Sun Protection: A hat, sunglasses with a retainer strap, and plenty of sunscreen (preferably water-resistant) will help protect you from the sun’s rays.

🩴 Footwear: Barefoot is often best for better grip on the board, but you can also wear water shoes if you prefer.

🤿 Layering: Depending on the weather, you might want to bring a lightweight, water-resistant jacket or wetsuit top.

🛟 Safety Gear: We provide life vests and other necessary safety equipment, but feel free to bring your own if you have a preferred set.
